Discover Footers

Walking into Footers feels like stepping into a place where the staff already knows what you’re about to order. I stopped in on a cold Montana afternoon while driving through Sidney, and within five minutes I had a mug of hot coffee, a laminated menu in hand, and a server asking if I wanted my usual-even though it was my first visit. That kind of warmth sets the tone for the whole experience.

Located at 616 S Central Ave, Sidney, MT 59270, United States, this diner has become a reliable stop for locals, oilfield crews, and travelers who want real food without the fuss. The menu leans classic but doesn’t feel dated. You’ll see hearty breakfasts served all day, burgers stacked the way they should be, homemade soups, and daily specials written on a board near the counter. I watched the kitchen staff work the grill during the lunch rush, and the process was efficient but never rushed, which usually means consistency-and that shows up on the plate.

On my first visit, I ordered the chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes, mostly because three different tables around me had the same thing. The breading was crisp, the gravy was clearly made in-house, and the portion size explained why so many reviews mention leaving full enough to skip dinner. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, nearly 70% of diners say portion value strongly influences repeat visits, and this place clearly understands that balance between quality and quantity.

Breakfast deserves its own paragraph. Eggs are cooked exactly as ordered, hash browns come out golden rather than soggy, and the pancakes have that slightly crisp edge that only comes from a well-seasoned griddle. A cook told me they prep batters fresh each morning, which aligns with research from food science journals showing fresh batter improves texture and moisture retention in griddle items. It’s a small detail, but it explains why the breakfast plates taste better than average diner fare.

What really stands out is how the restaurant fits into the local routine. Talking with a regular at the counter, I learned many families have been coming here for years, often meeting after school games or before early work shifts. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident. The service stays friendly even during peak hours, orders come out accurately, and prices remain reasonable compared to national chains.

The location also works in its favor. Being right off Central Avenue makes it easy to find, and there’s enough parking to handle busy weekends. While the décor is simple, it feels intentional-clean tables, visible kitchen activity, and no unnecessary distractions. Some diners prefer modern upgrades, and that may be one limitation for people expecting a trendy atmosphere. Still, most reviews online focus on food quality and service rather than aesthetics, which says a lot about priorities.

From a practical standpoint, this diner follows food safety standards closely. The open-kitchen layout allows customers to see preparation areas, which aligns with transparency practices recommended by organizations like the FDA for building consumer trust. While no restaurant is perfect, the consistency here suggests solid management and experienced staff who know their systems well.

Menu variety, dependable service, and a location that locals trust make this spot more than just a place to eat-it’s part of the Sidney routine. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast before work or sitting down for a relaxed lunch, the experience feels straightforward, honest, and satisfying, which explains why it continues to earn steady, positive reviews without needing to chase trends.

  • This is a cute main street ma & pop sandwich shop. We are from out of town, here for business, and have been several times. The owners (a husband and wife) have been there each time we've gone. The sandwiches are good and they have tons of options. The white bread is fantastic. It tastes homemade, and I could have eaten it plain. My husband loves their Reubens. The flat bread is also very yummy. The customer service is friendly. The bathrooms were clean and well equipped. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is the smell of smoke.. I'm guessing they, or an employee smokes on breaks or in the bathrooms or something. Not sure, but it's a strong scent right as you walk in. Also, the facilities need some updates and repairs, like the lock on the bathroom door, or the sink. Other than those things, footers is a great place for a nice lunch stop. You should expect to pay about $6-$12 a person.

  • Made my Club Sandwich to perfection. I loved it. Even with US Inflation, they didn't skimp on ingredients. Plus the restaurant was clean, and was enjoyable to eat. The place seemed to have staff and knowledgeable about their sandwiches.

  • We love Jerry and the gang! They know our sandwiches without even having to ask! Ha ha! Food is top notch, much better than the one named after an underground train. They always take care of their customers and their community! They do so much for the area! Including hosting cruise nights and different events! They always try to source the best possible ingredients and variety! They also have fancy drinks like smoothies and lotus drinks! They are good people and a good restaurant!!! They know you by name and always give 110%

  • This is the place to go when you want a sandwich that will fill you up. Ingredients used in everything from their specialty combinations to the standard sandwich meat and cheese is put on fresh in house made bread.

  • Jerry and his team make some of the best sandwiches around. If you don't like footers that's your fault not theirs. They have such a selection and the customer service is second to none. We may not eat here often but Jerry remembers our order when we do come in. He will always lable our sandwiches Mr and Mrs as well as sign our kids names on theirs. It's just a great family owned place you don't want to pass up the opportunity to visit.
